Art Meets Music: Blue Man Group

Art Meets Music: Blue Man Group

Lately I have become addicted to the music and the visual elements of this amazing band. But more than the music, it is a journey into the arts themselves. (I am a little behind the times as I don’t subject myself to cable tv regularly.) With three guys painted up in blue paint and nontraditional percussion elements, color and sound come together to create an artistic feast. You can buy the video that started my obsession with Blue Man Group here.
Here is one of the better videos I found over at Google Video:

Body Art: Using Your Spouse as a Canvas

Body Art: Using Your Spouse as a Canvas

My wife is the kind of person who really enjoys art herself so she was pretty eager to have me use her as a canvas. (Plus, I think there is a sensual aspect of this that you might want to consider with your spouse.)

Dale Chihuly – New York Botanical Garden

Dale Chihuly – New York Botanical Garden

Dale Chihuly is one of my personal favorite Artists not just because of the colors or the media he uses, but because his passion for the media. I found this video over on Google that really shows off some of the amazing work he does. I had the chance to see some of his work during the Chihuly over Venice exhibit once and I will forever be captivated by this amazing artist.

Rembrandt has Warts!

Rembrandt has Warts!

I just received my issue of Smithsonian today and was pleasantly surprised with a great article of Rembrandt. If you happen to be waiting in a doctors office in the next few days you might want to check it out. Other than that, we don’t keep the heat on down here at the church building on throughout the week to save money, so it’s really cold in the office… brrrr…
The article really brought to light something I didn’t think about before. This is that Rembrandt saw the beauty in the everyday people. Though he was commissioned …read more

Drawing Portraits Again

Drawing Portraits Again

As I’ve been without a computer at home for the last few days (and till the end of the week most likely) I’ve begun a series of studies into portrait drawing. My wife is a photographer so I have been using some of her portfolio proofs for these.
Since they are local people, I can’t post renderings of them without their permission. So they will have to remain in my secret stash of drawings that someday willbe worth fortunes.
In all I have completed two portraits this week, and only one of which I was close to happy with. I’ve been working …read more

Angela Rockett explores the Inner Landscapes

Angela Rockett explores the Inner Landscapes

Looking at the digital versions of Angela Rockett’s work makes me want to travel out to Bothell, Washington to see her paintings for myself. The rich hues of color explore an inner depth that is mesmerizing to look at and experience. The title of her most recent show at the VU Gallery, “Inner Landscapes” seems to be a fitting reminder of the expressions that Art really can portray about who we are… inside.
Angela reveals a hidden depth in her work that incorporates “found elements” bringing the world of collage and paint into a single medium that infuses the synergy of …read more
