Angela Rockett explores the Inner Landscapes
Looking at the digital versions of Angela Rockett’s work makes me want to travel out to Bothell, Washington to see her paintings for myself. The rich hues of color explore an inner depth that is mesmerizing to look at and experience. The title of her most recent show at the VU Gallery, “Inner Landscapes” seems to be a fitting reminder of the expressions that Art really can portray about who we are… inside.
Angela reveals a hidden depth in her work that incorporates “found elements” bringing the world of collage and paint into a single medium that
infuses the synergy of both to create the feel that her work has upon the eye and our hearts when we view it.
Why?
Because it represents us as humans so well.
Ansel Adams said:
A great photograph is one that fully expresses what one feels, in the deepest sense, about what is being photographed.
and I believe he caught onto something with that but it must be adapted to painting and art in general.
A painting that will last in our hearts and minds is a painting that touches

the very core of who we are as people, with laughter as well as with hurts, with baggage, with joy and in sorrow. A painting like this will leave us thirsting for life, bursting with joy, and weeping as we explore the depths of our souls.
Angela Rockett has captured this with her painting. She uses found elements and bright hues of paint that invade in glorious ways spilling over the canvas into our hearts and minds.
