Happy Anniversary Rebecca!

I’d just like to take this post today to wish my beautiful wife Rebecca a Happy 2 year Anniversary!
This also means I have self-imposed a ban on the computer for the rest of the day.

I’ll be back tomorrow.

A Few Steps Forward – Trying New Things

A Few Steps Forward – Trying New Things

I have recently realized that the local arts people in my hometown are doing more than I initially realized.
They offer glass blowing classes as well as a wood workshop, an art gallery and other art classes for all age groups. It’s been a challenge here recently to find people locally who are interested in art. I get a lot of interest, but very few people who get their hands dirty and pull out the clay or paints.
So I am going to go check out the local arts scene and see what’s up. This didn’t even exist …read more

Are Money and Art compatible?

Are Money and Art compatible?

I must admit that I get a little frustrated with Artists selling their work at Auctions for completely outrageous sums of money. Maybe I am just a little jealous of selling a work of art for an amount of money equal to that of the operating budget of a small country.
Hey, I could do an awful lot of great things with five million dollars. I am not sure if I want to sacrifice that much of my life and time and commitment to get to that level of selling my work. There is a huge misconception …read more

Mysterious Happenings.

Mysterious Happenings.

There is a mystery in Ohio this morning.
Apparently many people heard a large explosion type of sound all throughout central Ohio. Nothing seems to be able to explain it.
Read it for yourself, and I’d love to hear your theories.

Freaking Happy Trees

Freaking Happy Trees

I just realized that you can watch old Bob Ross videos on Google Video. Yeah, I know.. there is a controversy over his methods and the way he taught them. But, at the same time I have been amazed at the simplicity of his work as well as the passion that he displayed for painting.
While on one hand there are some issues with the exact duplication of his methods, there is the obvious factor that some of his techniques can be applied to other types of painting too and other realms of art.
I thought it was a …read more

So much for global warming.

So much for global warming.

After spending about 45 minutes getting ice off the car we pushed it free from its bed of ice this morning. It’s been a fun morning battling the ice and snow. I enjoyed getting out and taking a few images of the ice covered bush near our apartment though. I have found that taking loads of pictures is a good way to work with composition without actually getting the paints out. You can do it on the fly and make yourself a better artist through practice.
You might even become a better photographer in the meantime. …read more

Giving the bird.

Giving the bird.

yes, the lovebird now has feet.

also there happens to be Jeremy’s book, Blog Marketing, in the background that I hadn’t noticed before I took the picture. It’s a good little read for anyone out there who is thinking about promoting their art via a blog. You can check it out on Jeremy’s site.

How to get custom graphics for your blog or website. Free.

I have run across a free tool by Google called Google Sketch-Up (well, I did awhile ago and even used it in a recent post ) but I’ve recently realized that this is a great tool for us bloggers too. Here’s why?
Now not all of us are 3d graphical experts. Apparently Google knows that too. Intended for use primarily with Google Earth, Sketch-Up has some functionality that bloggers can use too. Hey, why not?
In addition to being able to create your own 3d model, there is a repository of models available via the 3d Warehouse.
For instance, I am doing an …read more

Who’s been eating the cat food?

Who’s been eating the cat food?

My wife feeds a stray cat we have around here. A little pretty calico that we both like. She is usually pretty hungry.
Well, this morning as we were going out the door, Rebecca noticed some strange prints leading to the bowl, which upon realizing there wasn’t any food, turn around and walk off.
We thought it was kinda funny. Here’s a picture that tells the story.

apparently the birds are hungry too…
