I finally decided it would be good to have my art desk separate from my work desk again. It’s probably more of a mental thing than anything. Work and play kind of thing. We’ll see if my wife lets me keep it there. (We have a pretty small apartment.)
I found that by taping my t-square on one side, it makes a nice sort of “second shelf” that I can use for various supplies.

Take a Refreshing Break

Okay, there is a part to writing and drawing everyday that can get to you. I honestly don’t know how comic strip artists do it on a daily basis.
I’ve been going through one of those phases as of late.
I am in the middle of getting over that hurdle. Here are a few steps I have taken to make life just a little clearer in terms of just being able to get things done again and get those creative juices flowing.

Cleaned the house (see tips here)
got rid of a bunch of extra stuff (sent it all off …read more

Okay, I am one of those guys who changes my desktop wallpaper on a daily basis. Every now and then I can’t find one I like, so I make one.
This was put together using Bryce 3d and Jasc Paint Shop Pro and thought I’d share it with you.

Help! I’ve fallen and can’t reach my pencils.

I’ve noticed that it’s hard to draw effectively when you are in pain. I hurt my back today. My dad hauls scrap metal and called me this morning to help him out on a job. I hurt myself lifting some 400 lb obsolete farm implements onto his truck.
But it’s a poor excuse in the lack of actual artwork or writing that has been done lately. I’ve gotten busy and slightly burnt out over the last few weeks. It may have been Easter followed quickly by trying to get out of town for a few …read more

ArtistsOnline, a UK based art site where you can buy and sell artwork is in the process of converting over to an international company.

* Add artwork in US Dollars, Pound sterling and Euro
* Price the delivery cost for specific countries
* Buyers can select to view artwork in their preferred currency
There are also some improvements to the art search, it’s much more focused towards art buyers. There are some other tweaks, but we’ll keep them under wraps until they’re live!

I had the great opportunity to review ArtistsOnline awhile back and was quite impressed. I look forward to being able to review …read more

I picked up a book the other day and will be making my way through it in the coming months. It is called “The Artist’s Handbook”, Equipment Materials Procedures Techniques by Ray Smith. Overall, I have been quite impressed with this book. While it has been out awhile, it’s a great learning resource for the everyday artist who may want to look for that one element that will make their current project come alive.

A day away. Loveland Castle.

A day away. Loveland Castle.

We (my wife and I) went to Loveland Castle in Loveland Ohio with Brian and Summer this last weekend and Brian took these images.
It was great to be able to get some time away and see family and friends. Here are some images of our day trip to the Loveland Castle.

Making a Money Bag

Making a Money Bag

Awhile back my wife participated in a wedding. About a year ago now.
Well, the bride said that she would help us out and lend us some money for the bridesmaid dress.
Well, we forgot all about it. oops.
Anyway, we are all still good friends and all but recently remembered about this and decided that we should pay them back plus some interest.
So between the 4 of us, we all enjoy playing The Elder Scrolls games and also plan on hitting up the Loveland castle this weekend in Kentucky.
We decided to have some fun with paying them …read more

I took this yesterday morning of the Captain Scott house with my cell phone. Pardon the foreboding feel of the sky, it’s Ohio. This will be moved shortly and restored.
Possibly this will include an art gallery too.
www.captainscotthouse.org has more details.
