Artist Hideout

So I am finally back from my week of rest and just got through my 80+ emails that had piled up in my gmail account. Thanks for putting up with the Flickr updates via cell phone for the week and the one actual post.

The other news is that I am in the process of putting together a studio/wood shop here in the next few weeks. Over Father’s day dinner with my parents, I mentioned that I would like to get into doing more woodworking and even a little framing on the side. So we decided to rent out a storage unit and move some stuff into and make room in his building out at their house.

I also happened to catch this guy out near Nelsonville, OH this last week doing chain saw yard statue artwork. If you ever happen to be out near 33 east of Lancaster just outside of Nelsonville, check out his yard statues he constructs right on the side of the road there. It’s his usual spot. This little bear he was selling for $125, and the larger one below, $225. Now if he sells one on average every weekday at an average of $200 a piece, he makes $52,000 a year. Not bad for doing something you love to do.
