So, a comment here is a vote for Kate correct? Good. I like her take on art. I enjoyed her whole post and agree; I think art does make one reconsider, and imagine, and think other things are possible… Lots of stuff. How much and what we view does affect our world view. Good job Kate

Art is observation and interpretation. It is how someone sees the world. much like writing in fact. Is it just another way we try to mark our passage? I’ll have to think about that one.

World Evils vs. Individual Creatism. It is so easy for us to gloss over the insanity in the world, for our own sanity, the everyday. I believe, even when morbid, art is optimistic. There has to be enthusiasm for the artist to be able to create. We can feel that enthusiasm, again, even when morbid. It is a wonderful retreat.

Are you saying that when you see art, is shows you the better side of humanity? Is there any particular painting or other piece of art that you feel particularly illustrates your point?

Of course, when you started talking about all the problems of the world, I thought of art that points to some of these problems…. such as Picasso’s Guernica about the horrors of the Spanish civil war.
