If you had to try a new art form and had unlimited resources to do it, what would you try?

PhotonQ-Something about his look

Here’s what I would try (to do more of anyway).

Sculpting.

Sculpting is messy work.

There is a reason I shy away from sculpting.  It’s expensive, it’s really time consuming, it takes up a lot of space and well…. it’s messy.

Not that I wouldn’t do more if I had the resources, I think I would.  Or at least I like to think that I would.

But here’s why I would do it.  Sculptures seem to reach out into our three dimensional space and pull us bodily into the work.

So, what would you try?

I’m gearing up mentally to try some bigger sculpting in clay, which will require a class… thinking about it ;)

Flameworking to create glass beads! That would just be soooo cool. Fire. Bending glass. Making those gorgeous tiny works of art that I drool over at the bead shows.

I’ve seen that guy at the mall who does the little lampworked dragons and flowers. I envy his work every time. Unfortunately, at our mall, he is a grumpy old man who barely even talks to you.

We don’t have a guy at our mall :-( But flameworking is definitely something that would be cool to get into (though probably not a good idea in an apartment :-P ).

I’d probably try some jewelry making. I would combine tiny images of my paintings with some beautiful metalwork.

Hey William, don’t forget that there are many ways of sculpting – not all of them take a massive studio or cranes to move granite :-)

Yeah, I realized that this last weekend Chloe when I was talking with a guy at the backwoods fest. I am going to have to save up for some sculpting clay here soon and have a go. I’ll link back to this post when I do it.

lol I am a sculpter but well I use wire, rock and found objects to make life easier on me and my housemates, mind you a wee bit of wire in the foot does hurt for a few days, and tripping on rocks sucks, and well the bigger pieces and I get the look for the housemates, like dude we would like to use the couch but it seems to be behind these huge unicorn that we know you are not going to finish anytime soon………..
Been thinking lately about painting, or drawing these two have always been something I have been terrified of
