Artist Hidout: The Artist and Project Blog: For Artists, and the kid in all of us.

Artists are just a different type of people. At least we like to think we are. Artists can take many forms, the young child coloring his first book to the retired engineer who does house portraits for a living. All artists are unique, yet they are all the same in one essential way. They love to create, and love to explore new ways of creating. Often I will put together a project idea, with helps and tips along the way. I will occasionally mention new artists that catch my eye, and I will dive into the historical lives of past artists and concepts/techniques for your own work. I will also review some random artists from the weeks project and post a few random submissions from readers. In short, I want you to become the artist that you were created to be.

As for me, I am an artist in many senses of the word. From charcoal to inkwash to airbrush and acrylic, and even some photography along the way I’ve done it one way or another. You only know a true airbrush artist by the colors of their sneeze by the way. Well, like most people who love art, everyday life eventually seems to kick in about the time we enter college and we become rough napkin artists as we inhale our food during 5 minute lunches. Most of us, eventually give up thinking that the kid inside of us longing to create may never get artisthideoutwallpaper1.jpgtheir chance. I am right there with the rough napkin artist. That’s me too. I love art, but always thought that I might not get that chance to really explore that inner passionate kid desiring to get out. b5 is giving me the chance to let him out once again.

Now, like most b5 bloggers, I also have another job. I am associate pastor at a small emergent church here in central Ohio. I am married to my beautiful wife Rebecca who is a full-time photographer. We have no children yet, but do have two cats (I think they should count). In my off time, I enjoy art (of course), kayaking with my wife, playing hand percussion, going to renaissance festivals, hiking, and blogging.
