Between the special effects, the colorful cast of characters and Johnny Depp’s nose taking up half of the screen in one section of the movie, there’s some lessons to be learned from the art of the latest installment of Pirates of the Caribbean, At World’s End.
This evening my wife and I caught the first showing at our local movie theater.

Sometimes you catch things reading local news that just throws you for a loop. A Baltimore, Ohio woman named Nancy Crow has made quilts that she has sold for $8,000 – $75,000

While studying fine arts at Ohio State in the late 1960s, she says she wanted to be a potter but became allergic to clay dust.
Now her quilts sell for prices ranging from $8-thousand dollars to $75-thousand dollars and have been displayed in museums around the U-S, including the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian is Washington DC.

Well, there have been various studies on the effects of Art by the medical community down through the years. Recently, the study relating to revitalizing the atrophied brain came out in the news. It got me thinking.
Doing art is more than just sitting down to draw something. ArtistsOnline, a UK based art site where you can buy and sell artwork is in the process of converting over to an international company.

* Add artwork in US Dollars, Pound sterling and Euro
* Price the delivery cost for specific countries
* Buyers can select to view artwork in their preferred currency
There are also some improvements to the art search, it’s much more focused towards art buyers. There are some other tweaks, but we’ll keep them under wraps until they’re live!

I have been reading a lot about the “Chocolate Jesus” saga the last few days. As an artist and as a pastor I guess this hits on both sides of the coin for me.
“My Sweet Lord” a sculpture by Cosimo Cavallaro has caused quite the controversy. It is a nude sculpture of the crucifixion of Christ. A tenet of the Christian faith.
