Josh Simpson and Minh Ngyen Interview

First of all, I’d like to thank both Josh and Minh for being a part of the first blogTalk radio show here on Artist Hideout. It was great talking to each of you and I hope to keep in touch with you two guys in the future. The passion and hard work that you both represent is inspirational to say the least. So thank you for the great opportunity to talk with each of you.
We would have gone longer but I had only scheduled a set time of one hour for the show. Lesson learned. …read more

One Hour Till the First BlogTalk Radio Show Here at Artist Hideout

One Hour Till the First BlogTalk Radio Show Here at Artist Hideout

I’ve looked forward to doing this show for awhile now. I think I emailed Josh Simpson’s studio back in October right after I had started Artist
Hideout. It’s been a little while getting things in place to do interviews like this, and I am thrilled to be able to talk with Josh Simpson today.
Below is a video that I tried to upload yesterday of a quickie review of www.MyArtPlot.com and it only was approved as of this morning. MtArtPlot is a social networking site for artists to show, review and sell their work. It’s quite nice and levels the playing field …read more

Minh Nguyen and Josh Simpson Interviews Friday Morning

Friday Morning at 11am – Noon EST I will be hosting my first BlogTalk Radio Show.
I will be interviewing the Following People:

Minh Nguyen: Founder of MyArtPlot
“I brainstormed the ideas for MAP. I conceptualized its functions and designed its user interface, movement model, and sustainability model. The features that you are enjoying are from my design.”
He also shares his happiest moment from the launce of MyArtPlot:
“I’m not even kidding. After struggling and working on it for 2 years, a rough beta version came out and I was so happy. I danced in my little shack of an apartment for like 20 …read more

Update: Historic House is Being Moved

Update: Historic House is Being Moved

I had published earlier about the Captain Scott house needing money to cover expenses to move it out of the way of a highway that is being widened here locally.
The home of a former abolitionist, Captain Joseph M. Scott from the Civil War era is now set to be moved.
Here are a few plans for this house once it is moved, shared by Donna Herring, who is helping head this project up.

As we work towards saving and restoring the Captain Scott house, those of us on the current committee are definitely looking forward to making both the upstairs …read more

Taking Questions for Josh Simpson Interview

Taking Questions for Josh Simpson Interview

This Friday, I have the opportunity to interview Josh Simpson who I previously wrote about here on Artist Hideout. Josh is an internationally acclaimed glass artist who is perhaps best known for his megaplanets.
So what do you ask when you get the opportunity to interview one of your favorite Artists?
I have a few questions, but I would like to know what you would ask Josh. Here’s a few details about Josh that I posted on the internal forums of www.b5media.com

If you get a chance to check out some of his work in the gallery of his site, I would love …read more

Help Save a Historic House from Destruction – 3 days left

Help Save a Historic House from Destruction – 3 days left

There is a house here locally by the name of the Captain Scott House. It’s an amazing house. I’ve always been very impressed with the architecture and the beauty of this amazing house. Now the house is facing destruction if enough money is not raised to move it. Visit www.captainscotthouse.org on how you can help save this historic monument.

The wide appeal of the project has mainly to do with the home itself, said Herring. “I am constantly meeting people who say ‘I’ve always loved that house!’” Last week, a family who wishes to remain anonymous stepped forward with a $10,000 …read more

Link Love: March 9th, 2007

This is probably a take off of Darren’s Speedlinking over at www.Problogger.net, but for the sake of feeling happy today because of the nice weather, I’ll call it “Link Love” (which is not in reference to anything below either).

I couldn’t pass up the opportunity when I was checking out some recent blog search sites and found another b5 blogger had written about this. I figured with my earlier post today on Georgia O’Keefe, I had better share this. Check out the post on The DC Traveler, there is a whole museum dedicated to women in the arts.

Coping with the death of a comic superhero.

Coping with the death of a comic superhero.

I’ve never been a comic collector or reader, At least not of the Marvel or DC comics. But it fascinates me that such a long-running illustrated hero such as Captain America is being mourned so widely.

The latest edition will show the superhero dying on the steps of a courthouse in New York, after he was shot by a sniper.
Captain America first appeared nine months before the Pearl Harbor bombings, punching Hitler on the cover of the comic’s first issue.

I would hate to put political feelings into this sudden and unexpected death of such a famously illustrated figure, but …read more

Capturing a moment in time: Infant Bereavement

Capturing a moment in time: Infant Bereavement

A friend of mine, Claude Barclay, told me about this free service that a select group of photographers take part in. He is considering joining this himself. To tell you the truth, it was a hard site to visit and view. But the images are captured eloquently and with the motive of healing for the families.
Along with the uncertainty of birth, many families look forward to this being a beautiful moment of joy. The bringing of an infant into the family. It is a wonderful experience. One I look forward to one day. But sometimes, rarely, there are complications with …read more
