How to (try to) understand Abstract Art.
This is a revisited comic based off of one I did last week on my personal (what is becoming my cartoon) site, www.decloned.com
Now I am not down on abstract art in any way. Most of mine is abstract too. I just think that as any kind of artist, we must come to the realization that not everyone is going to understand our work, in fact… count on it.
Art Submission: J.Reinartz
I just received this art submission from J. Reinartz along with this note:
Hello, A while ago I was really into digital art. I’m painting in oil pastels at the moment. I did a series of abstracts in addition to some digital art portraits I find the ability to layer images the most satisfying part of digital. I mainly use illustrator and photoshop. I had an old tablet that I never could become one with. I’m sure the newer ones are much better. What do you think? J.Reinartz

Full Review of Wacom Intuos3
I’ve been using this graphics tablet for over two weeks now. At first it takes some getting used to. Every point on the tablet corresponds to a place on the screen, which is completely different from a mouse. With a mouse, you can pick it up, place it in a different location and continue as normal. With a tablet, you just have to move. It took me four hours of wanting to throw this thing out the window to realize that I absolutely love it.
Issues. I’ve fully transitioned to using the tablet as my primary …read more
Daisy Vase – my first digital painting…
I’ve been working all day with the Intuos3 Wacom tablet and it’s starting to grow on me. I did a portrait on my other blog of Darren Rowse as part of a project that I took up today there.
But this is my first true digital painting.
Not bad for a first day with a tablet if I do say so myself. My wife likes daisies, so this is for her.

I know it’s too early for this…but…
I’ve determined that I need to learn a lot more about layers in digital painting if I am going to really do much with it as an art form relating to web comics.
Below was an idea I had for a (funky) Christmas card derived from me playing with layers in paint shop pro.
My apologies to anyone who I may have freaked out with the thought of Christmas being only 4 months away.

How to make great color schemes for your blog, website, or project.
Awhile back I got some good feedback on an post I did about creating a logo for your blog.
But I failed to mention color schemes in the process.
I have found the following to be a pretty good standard for colors. If the colors appear together in nature, then they will work visually for your project. Granted, this is a pretty loose judgement, but it seems to work for me.
The color scheme above is entitled Fire Flower, based off of the colors of the following image I took while on vacation earlier this year.
I haven’t worked out how …read more
