I know it’s too early for this…but…

I’ve determined that I need to learn a lot more about layers in digital painting if I am going to really do much with it as an art form relating to web comics.
Below was an idea I had for a (funky) Christmas card derived from me playing with layers in paint shop pro.

My apologies to anyone who I may have freaked out with the thought of Christmas being only 4 months away.

Planet Ozzin

Planet Ozzin

Shai Coggins has just learned of a new planet from her 3 yr old son where the Kakadonks live.
Being the novice astronomer that I am, I found this planet and am posting it here.

It’s fairly bright colored, but I guess you’d have to read Shai’s post about it in order to get the full picture.

Joyous Electric Art

Joyous Electric Art

Probably the most effective art tool in my arsenal is my music.
Today, it seems I’m in a particular mood.

Black = winamp/itunes
pink = windows media

Draw.
Then email an image of your creations to me.
We’ll put together a posted show based off of this music if you can handle it.
Warning: may cause epileptic attack or visions of Mario and Luigi dancing to a syncopated rhythm.
Oh, and if you are interested in who this is…

How to create your own stonehenge.

How to create your own stonehenge.

I stumbled on this video earlier this morning and impressed with the sheer magnitude of the blocks being moved.  If creating huge installation work is something that you always wanted to try to do, this guy will show you how to do it.
Oh yeah, this is actual size stonehenge.

Backwoods Fest 2007
Jay Risner, pictured here with two of his sculpted vultures, took some time to talk with me today about
his sculptures at the Backwoods Fest in Thornville, OH.
Now craft shows/art markets are more than just a place to go to showcase your work, they also can serve as inspiration and help you innovate your own methods by checking out what other people are using that work for certain effects.
Even though we spoke only briefly, Jay was more than happy to talk about his work and share some great insights into the work he does.

The view out my window….live.

The view out my window….live.

I’ve been playing with a webcam lately and finally figured out how to stream video from it to the web. Eventually, I will probably do some art this way, but for now it’s pointed out the window which looks like I am in prison with the barbed wire around the water tower…lol.
The image to the left is a static screenshot, but click it to go to the live streaming webcam.
It’s hard to find freeware to do this that is…well, free. I hit about 100 different supposed freeware options before I finally found Yawcam which allowed me to do this.
So for …read more

Hooked on Steampunk

Hooked on Steampunk

Over the last few days I’ve really gotten hooked on the Steampunk art that I’ve seen.
Ranging from Guitars to laptops to even vehicles this strange genre of art has quite a following.
It is best summed up in the following statement I found about it.

The ideas behind the steampunk sci-fi subgenre have been around since Jules Verne and H.G. Wells, but it was given its moniker in the late ’80s as a speculative-fiction genre, alongside cyberpunk, ribofunk and splatterpunk. While the others peer 15 minutes into the future, steampunk envisions a future that has collapsed onto a re-imagined Victorian …read more
