Child prodigy finger painting.

Child prodigy finger painting.

Every now and then there is one of these Child prodigy types of people who just pop out against the background of the art community and really amaze us. Now this kid isn’t quite a Leonardo yet, but he can sure paint him. The teenage mutant ninja turtle version anyway.

To name or not to name?

To name or not to name?

I am waiting for the paint to dry on my new painting. It’s a little different than most of my paintings, since it incorporates assemblage. But while it’s drying over the next few days, I will be working to try to either come up with a name or decide on whether I want to leave it untitled.
See how many things you can recognize in the painting with the close-ups below.

The video below struck me as pretty creative as it involves so many works of art morphing into each other with a common theme.
Enjoy.

Taking the plunge…. on buying a graphics tablet.

Taking the plunge…. on buying a graphics tablet.

I’ve been thinking about this for some time. And well, tonight finally decided to do it.
After reading probably at least half of the 91 reviews of the Intuos3 Wacom pen tablet and seeing the amazing amount of great feedback that this product is generating, I am taking the plunge.
With the average feedback being four and a half stars out of five with 91 reviews, I am feeling pretty confident about my purchase.
But, I will be using this day in and out maybe sometime next week. I will be putting it to the test in a very …read more

Fallen Art: A little disturbing, but pretty creative concept.

Fallen Art: A little disturbing, but pretty creative concept.

Sometimes you run across something that you aren’t sure whether you should post it or not. This is one of those. So I dedicate this post to all of those who have put so much into their artwork…whatever the casualties.
Oh yeah, please jump in on the contest.

My best works are usually the ones that make people wonder if I’m nuts…

Most of my work has always been abstract Expression since last October when I began Artist Hideout, and while I enjoy it, I felt there might be something lacking. I’ve been thinking a lot about how technology has and continues to impact the art world and how to express that.
So my most recent painting, (and why I’ve been silent the last few days has been an assemblage project that will also be using the abstract form in it’s later stages. You must pardon the cell phone image below (I really must get a better camera than that), but here is …read more

Concept Art

Concept Art

I think half of my sketchbook sometimes is what I’d consider “Concept Art”. What it really is is probably something more similar to many varied doodles or half-finished ideas that never came into being.
But it can also be a valuable tool when you are stretched for a new work.
Pull out the sketchbooks and glance through them, you may be surprised at what you find.

Illusion Experience.

Illusion Experience.

This has been circling in emails for awhile now as a forward. I think there is a value to just viewing and analyzing certain things about it though.

Consisting of three colors, the illusion experience is that everything seems to move.
Try this. Concentrate in the very center and everything stops moving, but move your eyes over it, and well, everything but what you are looking at directly will move.

Artist Submission – Kids count too.

Dexie, a fellow blogger over at www.sheknowsbest.com – Lifestyle Tips for Guys, who featured me last week (as per my wife’s submission) wrote in and was curious if her 9 year old son qualified as an artist?
Sure, one thing I love about children’s artwork is I love to see the progression of artwork from kids as they grow in their ability. These are the formative years and the time where they can develop skills that will last through their lives. I wish I was this proficient at photoshop when I was nine. Wait, did photoshop even …read more

Occasionally, I run across a site that is yet unlaunched but promises to be a great little endeavor in the future. Here is an ad from one that I think will be a great opportunity to be a part of.
