Okay, I admit it.
I recently watched a Weird Al Video collection. Lately I have been able to get some of those tunes out of my head. But this morning as the really dumb song started flitting through my head, a thought occurred to me. It was the song “Dare to be Stupid”
Has there ever been an art project that you wanted to do that you shyed away from because you were afraid that someone else would have though it too childish, dumb or just plain silly?

Oh yes. In fact, I did this once for a class I was taking. We were told to make an alternative form of a book. I kept showing the instructor web sites and all sort of those technical things, and he kept saying “nope, not what I’m looking for.” Then I finally just got out my paper, glue, beads, wire, felt, tons of craft stuff and *crafted* a book. I figured he probably would think I was nuts, but he loved it.

You know a time I remember was in a class as well. We were supposed to do a project called “unusual valentines” Mine involved an old broken clock that played love songs, a black light and a lot of florescent paint. I basically just nailed them all to the wood, it plugged in and looked like it would shock you if you touched it, but everyone loved it. Weird huh? It seems there must be a theme that when we as artists are pushed to fit inside a mold, we usually find another way to break it. I’d love to see the book if you still have it Tammy.
