The Artistry of God
I’ve began a new project. A book. I’ve never really just sat down intending to write this book. But as I’ve been writing Artist Hideout over the last few months it kind of just started coming out. I thought I’d mention it though as I feel it gives an overall perspective of how I view my art and art in general. I have invited a few great writers to take part in this as well. Then when it is finished, I will seek out a publisher for it. Who knows? It may never see the light of day other than in the blogosphere. But as it is a little off-topic for this blog, I only wanted to mention it once with a little intro.
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
The Bible - Genesis 1:1I’ve been thinking about that first verse a lot lately. Not because God is such an amazing artist but because I know artists. We are unpredictable inconsistent and wildly rebellious by nature. Just ask my wife. I enjoy the process of creating. I revel in it. I abide there and occasionally don’t come out of it for awhile. God is like that too. For six whole days he created and only on the seventh did he rest. Who put that limitation on God? Did he give Himself a deadline. “If the oceans are not finished by this time tomorrow, I’m going to scrap this and start over.” No, I think God lost Himself to His creation. He put part of Himself in it in a way only an artist can understand. Then He gave it as a gift to us. A handmade personalized gift. Like the drawing a child does and it gets attached to the refrigerator in an almost permanent way. God is an Artist, a creator, and we are His creation. Understanding the purpose God has for us starts with creation. Each piece is unique, each brush stroke perfect in it’s element and each one of our lives is but a thread in the tapestry of creation. Each of us are on that fantastical adventure to understand our purpose, our meaning and place in this wonderful and inspired work of art that is life.
Anyway, that’s kinda my rough thesis or idea or whatever… I have more written but I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up for the final too much.

This is great! Can’t wait to see how the rest of it comes, today is one of my first days to work on some transcription, I have done some research for my book…
As to God being in the zone, great image… but, I would contend that God saw the value and wisdom in resting… he didn’t rest on the seventh day reluctantly… he actually was finished with his work… stood back and set it apart, made it holy… it is that concept of sabbath we talked about… (sorry, i got a little preachy, it is genetic, you know that)
