The Drying Stage (splatter brained post)

by William Lehman on January 17th, 2007

enamel art

I am usually a very patient person. But not right now. I finished a new painting this evening and it will probably take till tomorrow evening to dry completely. It is very much unlike the traditional paintings that I do and very much more on the abstract expressionist side of things, yet still very different.

But like I said, I’m not very patient right now. It was one of those very messy types of paintings that I couldn’t do here in my apartment. Small canvas, but lots of splatter possibilities. So I did it in the kitchen down at the church.

So before I can show it to you, it must dry. Hence, the impatience.

So, I’ll post it when I can. I am excited. I will do things a little differently next time around, but am happy with the initial results of this painting since it’s a new media for me to work with and a new technique & one I haven’t really ever seen before too. Okay I am tired too. Must go watch a movie and go to bed. Maybe just the latter.

This is why I only work in acrylics and other water media! I’m patient enough, but my cats or husband are likely to mess with whatever sits around too long :-)

I just bought a really nice shelf (nice and high) so my cats couldn’t get to my stuff that was drying. But for this piece, I just did it down at the church building and left it there to dry for a few days. Yay, it’s done!
