Artist Hideout

Trading Art: proof and pudding

by William Lehman on February 1st, 2007

I received my proof back from ArtCards Wanted. It took them three emails to get my order right (somehow my order got mixed up with someone else’s which happens sometimes) but thank goodness for their proofing system.

here is the email I received back from ArtCards Wanted with my proof attached. I whited out my order number in this screenshot.

I also asked some basic questions about the company and received this email back. I am still surprised at how young this particular branch of their company is for as many artists who are represented.

ArtCardsWanted.com is less than a year old, but it’s growing very quickly and we have had a lot of support from art card enthusiasts.

The idea started after receiving many requests from artists on our main site (ArtWanted.com) to focus some attention on art cards. At first, we were just going to add an ‘art card’ section to ArtWanted.com, but the more we looked into it, we felt that a new website dedicated to only art cards would be the best way to go.

While doing our research, we found that there were very few websites dedicated to this growing art form and none that brought together buyers, sellers and traders. It was our goal to make this happen through ArtCardsWanted.com

To get new artists interested in art cards, we setup an art card printing service, so an artist can make cards from existing artwork they have already created. We also encourage our members to create original art card artwork.

Some artists only trade their original art cards, so we have a section of our site dedicated to ATCs and local groups that trade monthly.

We feel the site has something for everyone that is interested in art cards and we expect the site to continue to grow.

If you have any other questions or comments, I will be happy to get back with you.

Sincerely,

Andy Evans, President/Founder

Thanks Andy for the reply and the info. I too expect this phenomenon to catch on with artists as they experiment with different ways of promoting their own artwork. I look forward also in receiving my very own art cards here soon.

does anyone know how long it will take to receive them? I’ll have to double check ArtCards Wanted and see if I can find that info.
