Turning Imagination into Art
When I was about eight or nine, I remember falling asleep looking at the sky. It was a fine summer day with a big bright blue sky and puffy clouds that looked like cotton balls. I would lay down in the soft green grass smelling the earthy scents of summer bloom all around me and doze peacefully. To lay back and watch the clouds roll by and to imagine things and animals romping across the sky far above me has always inspired me. Then as evening wore on, I would listen to the sound of the night grow around me. The sound of crickets, and the hustle and bustle of the day fade away into a clear night sky burning with stars.
Now stars have always intrigued me. Constellations have fascinated me and the arrangement of these has always somehow still eluded me.
Well, up until now. There have been two things that have reawakened this interest in the sky and cloud gazing. The first is the discovery of the program, “stellarium” where you can see the constellations with the images of what they are named after or for.
The second is a new blog here at b5 called Astronomy Buff
Stars and the sky have always been a great inspiration for artists. Take some time and just watch the night sky. Wintertime is great because stars shine clearer due to less haze. See if it inspires you too.
