Where do we go from here?

I’ve taken the last few days as a kind of break here to read over the context of the last few posts and re-engage where I am aiming this blog.
- What do I want to accomplish?
- What can I offer to the art community through AH?
- What is content that readers really seem to be resonating with?
So, as I take a look back at the community that has developed around Artist Hideout and the people who have submitted artwork and realize that there is a need for not just a place where we can discuss art, but learn together the concepts and history of art, within the context of our own development as artists.
Artist Hideout is just that. A hideout, in that it is a place for us to talk as people rather than the intellectual jargon that so complicates the meanings and purpose of art but open to all to come in and share, masters and novices alike. Art is really the process by which we reflect who we are, what we want to say and how we appreciate beauty. Anyone can participate.
So here is a few ideas that have resonated with me this last week as I’ve been thinking about what AH can give back to the art community.
- I would like to show more of your artwork here on the site. We learn from each other. One of the greatest things about a formal art class is the process known as constructive criticism where your peers can tell how you might improve upon what you are doing. I’d like to incorporate more of that into AH.
- We all have different types of art that we enjoy more than others. For me it’s abstract expressionism in particular, but I dabble in about everything. I’d like to have some more discussion types of things that we can go off of about these different forms of art and styles so we can learn a little firsthand about why we all enjoy what we enjoy and come to appreciate more than just the ones we’ve come to do ourselves.
- I’d like to hold some show types of posts, where everyone can submit their work and we can all view it like a show, and see a greater context of who we are, sell our own work (if you so desire) through AH (basically buyer contacts artists via email or blog to purchase).
I’d like to know what you might think about these and possible ideas you may have as well. So leave your concepts and ideas in the comments below.
